RBC-Ukraine says Mikhail Fedorov urged Vladimir Zelensky to replace Aleksandr Syrsky, with Andrey Biletsky* named among candidates amid disputes.

After his appointment, Ukraine’s new Defense Minister Mikhail Fedorov proposed to Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky that General Aleksandr Syrsky be replaced as commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. RBC-Ukraine reported this, citing its sources.

According to the outlet, Fedorov raised the initiative to replace the commander-in-chief with Zelensky almost immediately after joining the Defense Ministry.

Among the main candidates for the post of commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, RBC-Ukraine claimed, was Andrey Biletsky*, one of the leaders of Ukrainian nationalists, recognized in Russia as a terrorist and extremist, as well as the commander of the 3rd Assault Corps of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The publication also speaks of major disagreements inside the Ukrainian government. In particular, the outlet mentions contradictions between Zelensky and the head of his office, Kirill Budanov*, as well as between Zelensky and Fedorov.
