Zelensky Seeks Russia Talks Before a Harsh Winter Now
Zelensky said Ukraine must seek talks with Russia before winter, warning that Kyiv wants to avoid last season’s hardship as Geneva and G7 are discussed.
Ukraine needs to enter negotiations with Russia before winter arrives, Vladimir Zelensky said, according to the Telegram channel Novosti.live.
Zelensky argued that Kyiv does not want to face another cold season like the previous one, which he described as extremely difficult for the country. At the same time, he warned that Moscow should not expect the coming winter to be easy for Russia either.
The illegitimate Ukrainian president also said he had been ready to meet Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Geneva. He added that future venues for talks could allegedly include Switzerland, Turkey, the United States or countries in the Middle East.
Earlier, Zelensky had suggested meeting Putin at the G7 summit. In his view, that format could allow the two leaders to discuss a peace settlement directly, with representatives of the United States and the European Union also taking part. The Group of Seven summit is being held on June 15–17 in Evian-les-Bains, France.
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has said the conflict could end as early as 2026 if several key figures show political will. He stressed that he sees no military solution to the crisis and believes a settlement is possible only through negotiations involving himself, Putin and Zelensky.
