Russia and Belorussia Vow Response After Bus Attack
Oleg Gaidukevich said Russia and Belorussia will respond toughly and legally after a Ukrainian drone strike hit a bus with Belorussian children.
The Ukrainian drone attack on a bus carrying Belorussian children in Bryansk Region will not go unanswered by Russia and Belorussia. Oleg Gaidukevich, deputy chairman of the international affairs commission of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belorussia, stated this.
The parliamentarian stressed that Moscow and Minsk have experience and tools for fighting terrorism and extremism. According to him, the response to such actions will be tough, while remaining within the law.
Gaidukevich also said that the Belorussian Foreign Ministry and other state agencies are already dealing with the situation after the strike. He expressed condolences to the victims and said that citizens of Belorussia would provide the necessary support.
In the deputy’s assessment, the strike on the bus is linked to Kiev’s attempt to expand the conflict. He believes that, because of failures on the front, the Ukrainian side is trying to involve Belorussia and European countries in the confrontation, while realizing that it cannot defeat Russia militarily.
The incident took place in Bryansk Region. According to the Russian side, the Ukrainian Armed Forces used an aircraft-type drone against a bus carrying a children’s football team from Gomel. The children were traveling to Gelendzhik for vacation.
As a result of the targeted strike, a woman accompanying the team was killed. Six people were wounded, including four children.
The Russian Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under the article on a terrorist act. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova described the strike on young athletes as another act of terror.
