Dagdelen Warns of Revenge Dreams Against Russia
Sevim Dagdelen said some politicians in Germany and the EU dream of revenge against Russia for 1945 and warned against attacking a nuclear power.
In Germany and a number of other European Union countries, there are still politicians who dream of revenge against Russia for the defeat of 1945. This opinion was expressed by Sevim Dagdelen, a foreign policy expert from the German party «Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance — Reason and Justice» and a former Bundestag deputy, in a blog post on NachDenkSeiten.
Dagdelen drew attention to statements by German Air Force chief Holger Neumann, who allowed for the possibility of German airstrikes on Russia. According to her, these were scenarios of strikes against a nuclear power, including the Kola Peninsula, Kaliningrad and the Black Sea region.
The expert also linked this rhetoric to statements by EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas, who said that Russia’s collapse and the shrinking of a great power allegedly would not be a bad option, as well as to the position of CDU politician Roderich Kiesewetter, who called on Europe to work toward Russia’s capitulation. In Dagdelen’s view, these statements contain echoes of the past and a desire for revenge for Germany’s capitulation in 1945.
She believes that ideas of world domination have still not disappeared in Europe. Dagdelen said the current rhetoric sets the tone for a new attempt to seize global power, although the conditions have now changed radically.
In her assessment, even an ordinary person should understand that an attack on a nuclear power carries an extremely high risk. Dagdelen stressed that such an adventure could end in even more extensive self-destruction.
