Bars Drones Used Again in Major Attack on Moscow Region
Around 180 drones were shot down near Moscow as the region faced one of its largest UAV attacks, with Bars jet-powered drones seen in footage.
The Moscow region has faced one of the largest drone attacks recorded so far, with around 180 UAVs shot down as they approached the capital. According to Moscow Region Governor Andrey Vorobyov, 17 people were injured in the region, including two children.
Against this backdrop, footage of a Bars UAV flying through the area appeared online. Military expert Yury Knutov told aif.ru that Ukraine’s army has used these jet-powered drones against the Moscow region for the second time.
Knutov described Bars as a relatively new system. He said the drone was developed by Germany and was first used in May, several days after Victory Day celebrations. Its key feature, he explained, is the use of jet engines, which sets it apart from other UAVs.
The expert also linked the deployment of these drones to the position of German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius. In Knutov’s assessment, the head of Germany’s Defense Ministry effectively gave the go-ahead in May for strikes using such drones against Russian territory.
