Russian Air Defenses Destroy 187 Ukrainian Drones Overnight, Defense Ministry Says
Russian air defense systems destroyed 187 Ukrainian drones overnight on June 20, the Defense Ministry said, with UAVs intercepted over several regions and seas.
On the night of June 20, Russian air defense systems destroyed 187 Ukrainian drones, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported.
According to the ministry, air defense units on duty intercepted and shot down fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles between 8:00 p.m. Moscow time on June 19 and 7:00 a.m. Moscow time on June 20.
The drones were destroyed over the territories of the Astrakhan, Oryol, Voronezh, Belgorod, Lipetsk, Rostov, Kursk, Tula and Bryansk regions, Krasnodar Territory, the Moscow region, the Republic of Crimea, as well as over the waters of the Azov and Black seas.
During the night, air defenses also shot down two Ukrainian drones heading toward Moscow. Amid the attack, temporary flight restrictions were introduced at Domodedovo and Zhukovsky airports. Later, Rosaviatsiya reported that restrictions on the arrival and departure of aircraft had been lifted. At the time of publication, Domodedovo was handling flights in coordination with the relevant authorities.
In addition, seven Ukrainian UAVs were destroyed over the Tula Region on the night of June 20.
