Kerch Ferry Attack May Have Used Sea-Launched Drones
Analyst Vasily Dandykin says the Kerch ferry attack may have used sea-launched drones, as Crimea reports four killed and ferry service suspended.
The attack on the Kerch Peninsula by the Armed Forces of Ukraine may have been carried out with drones launched from sea vessels, according to military analyst and retired Captain 1st Rank Vasily Dandykin.
Dandykin said UAVs targeting the Kerch Peninsula can approach by different routes, including over the sea. He noted that many of them are being shot down and that a growing number of mobile fire groups can be seen along roads in the area.
The analyst also accused Ukrainian forces of continuing to strike civilians. In his view, such actions are taking place with the approval of Western politicians, who, he argued, have effectively given Vladimir Zelensky room to act without restraint.
Dandykin said Russia is working to contain these threats, while Ukrainian forces are trying to find loopholes and escalate their attacks.
He added that, in response to such strikes, the Russian military has intensified attacks on Ukraine’s port infrastructure and coastal military depots. According to him, those sites may contain drones, drone components and other equipment.
On the night of June 21, drones launched by the Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked the ferry crossing on the Kerch Peninsula. According to the head of Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov, four people were killed in the strike and 28 others were injured.
Representatives of the Kuban operational headquarters said ferry services through the Kerch crossing would be temporarily suspended.
