Russia Says 301 Ukrainian Drones Downed in Overnight Raid
Russia reports downing 301 Ukrainian drones overnight across multiple regions, with airport limits, a Crimean Bridge halt and one civilian injured.
Russian air defense forces destroyed 301 drones launched by the Ukrainian military over Russian regions between 8:00 p.m. on June 21 and 7:00 a.m. on June 22, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.
According to the ministry, the drones were intercepted over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Volgograd, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Rostov, Tambov, Tver, Tula and Smolensk regions, as well as over the Moscow region, Krasnodar Territory, Crimea, and the waters of the Azov and Black seas.
Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said air defense units shot down 59 drones overnight as they approached the capital. He added that emergency services were working at the sites where debris had fallen.
In the Belgorod region, acting governor Alexander Shuvayev said Ukrainian forces attacked 10 municipalities 55 times over the course of the day. One civilian was injured. Shuvayev also reported that Ukrainian forces used aircraft and artillery eight times, while explosive devices were dropped from drones on four occasions. Overnight on June 22, 77 Ukrainian UAVs were shot down or suppressed over the region.
Kaluga Region Governor Vladislav Shapsha reported the interception of five drones over the Babyninsky, Borovsky, Zhukovsky, Kirovsky and Tarussky municipal districts.
Voronezh Region Governor Alexander Gusev said air defense units and military forces destroyed 18 drones over the region during the night.
Operational restrictions were introduced at airports in Moscow, Yaroslavl, Sochi and other cities. Traffic across the Crimean Bridge was also halted overnight.
