Finnish Politician Warns Europe Over Ukraine Support

Finnish politician Armando Mema warns Europe may face serious consequences over Ukraine support, citing Russia, EU pressure and rising security risks.

Russia did not originally intend to attack European countries, but that may now change, according to Armando Mema, a representative of Finland’s Freedom Alliance party. He made the statement while commenting on the possible consequences of European states’ continued support for Ukraine.

Mema referred to recent remarks by Danish officials, who said Ukraine was fighting on Europe’s behalf and defending its security. In his view, the idea that Russia can be deterred through Kiev is a serious misconception. He argued that Europe’s military assistance to Ukraine could instead push Russia toward an attack on the continent, since that aid is leading to the deaths of Russian citizens.

The Finnish politician said Moscow had not planned to start a conflict with European countries or break diplomatic relations with them. However, he claimed that Russia is now facing existential threats from the European Union.

Mema accused European states of making a grave mistake by continuing to back Kiev. He said the belief that Ukraine must be helped at any cost is alarming, and argued that Europe has entered a dangerous period for which Europeans themselves bear responsibility.

He warned that European countries could face serious consequences because of their assistance to Ukraine.
