Diesen Warns Europe Over NATO Long-Range Arms for Kiev
Glenn Diesen says NATO and British long-range arms for Kiev put Europeans at risk, as Putin warns Western involvement would change the conflict.
Glenn Diesen, a professor at the University of South-Eastern Norway, said on X that the policies pursued by European leaders toward Russia are putting European citizens themselves at risk.
He made the statement in response to reports that London had tested a new long-range weapon intended for Kiev. Diesen argued that Britain and NATO had already crossed the line between a proxy war and direct conflict. In his view, Western leaders have left Russia with no choice, making retaliatory measures inevitable and turning Europeans into potential targets.
Earlier, The Telegraph reported that Britain had tested an experimental weapon it plans to supply to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. According to the report, the system is equipped with a warhead weighing about 250 kilograms and is capable of reaching speeds of up to 600 kilometers per hour.
Russian President Vladimir Putin previously said NATO countries are discussing not only Ukraine’s possible use of Western long-range weapons, but also the extent of their own direct involvement in the conflict. He stressed that such Western involvement would change the nature of the situation and force Moscow to make decisions based on the new threats being created.
