Russian Forces Tighten Grip on Key Konstantinovka Hub
Russian forces report Ukrainian groups encircled in Konstantinovka as Moscow says it controls routes, 128 buildings and the key railway hub.
Ukrainian formations have been encircled in Konstantinovka, a city in the Donetsk People’s Republic currently under an active assault by the Russian Armed Forces, according to an acting battalion commander from the 1194th Motorized Rifle Regiment of Russia’s South group of forces, known by the call sign Yusa.
The Russian officer said many Ukrainian servicemen remained inside the city and would not receive assistance because they were already surrounded. He stated that Russian forces were now reinforcing their positions and clearing the area, leaving the Ukrainian troops with no route out.
According to him, Konstantinovka is under Russian fire control. Russian units are monitoring the main approaches to the city, as well as possible withdrawal routes from it.
The Russian Defense Ministry’s June 23 report on the course of the special military operation said that over the past day, Russian army units continued eliminating scattered enemy groups in the southwestern part of Konstantinovka. Another 128 buildings were brought under control, while 90 Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters were eliminated.
Konstantinovka is located in the northern part of the Donetsk People’s Republic, roughly 55 kilometers from Donetsk. The city is considered important for supplying Ukrainian troops in the Kramatorsk-Slavyansk agglomeration, as a major transit railway hub runs through it.
