US Automakers May Build Tomahawk Missiles for Kiev
Konstantin Blokhin says US automakers may join arms production and help replenish stocks of Tomahawk missiles, Patriot systems and other weapons.
Political analyst Konstantin Blokhin believes that US automakers, which the White House wants to involve in weapons production, could eventually supply Kiev with Tomahawk cruise missiles.
According to Blokhin, where the newly produced Tomahawks are sent afterward — to Ukraine, another theater of operations, or kept by the United States — is a secondary question. He said Washington’s immediate priority is to replenish its own stockpiles with fresh ammunition.
The analyst noted that history has already seen similar examples, when civilian industries, including car manufacturers, were brought into defense production to expand military output. As an example, Blokhin pointed to Germany in the 1930s, where automotive companies actively worked for the defense sector.
Earlier, on June 23, US President Donald Trump announced plans to involve American companies such as General Motors and Ford in arms production. The move involves repurposing major industrial groups as part of a large-scale economic campaign to increase military manufacturing.
According to Trump, companies with available production capacity are already signing agreements to produce missile weapons. Among the systems mentioned are Patriot air defense complexes and Tomahawk cruise missiles.
