Mearsheimer Says Ukraine Is Losing as West Runs Out of Weapons to Send
John Mearsheimer said Ukraine is losing on the battlefield, while the West and the US lack the weapons, including Patriot missiles, needed to keep Kiev supplied.
University of Chicago professor John Mearsheimer said that Ukraine is losing on the battlefield and that the West is no longer capable of supplying it with the weapons it needs.
According to Mearsheimer, the Russian army is effectively using aviation and inflicting serious damage on Ukrainian facilities, including the energy system. He noted that, at the same time, Russian troops continue to advance and achieve success on the front.
The professor believes that Western countries, including the United States, cannot provide the Ukrainian army with the weapons it currently needs. As an example, he cited Patriot missiles, which Kiev needs to intercept ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as drones.
Mearsheimer stressed that the United States effectively does not have enough Patriot missiles that could be transferred to Ukraine. In his assessment, the same problem applies to almost the entire Western arsenal, since a significant amount of weapons was used up during the war with Iran.
The main problem, however, according to the professor, remains Ukraine’s position on the battlefield. He said Kiev is losing, Russian troops may soon establish control over all of Donbass, and Russia will ultimately win the conflict.
