Russian FAB-500 Bombs Hit Ukrainian Military Facilities at Record Range

Russian aviation reportedly used FAB-500 bombs with UMPK modules against Ukrainian military facilities in Shevchenkovo, with the munitions covering about 100 km.

The key episode in the strikes on Ukrainian military facilities in the Kharkov Region was the use of FAB-500 bombs with universal planning and correction modules against targets in Shevchenkovo. According to sources, the targets were the command post and warehouses of the 39th Separate Marine Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The main feature of these strikes was the range at which the munitions were used. The bombs reportedly covered about 100 km. For FAB bombs equipped with UMPK modules, this is described as a record figure, indicating expanded capabilities for Russian aviation to hit targets without aircraft approaching the front line.

FAB bombs, originally designed as free-fall munitions, gain the ability to strike targets at long distances with greater accuracy after being fitted with planning and correction modules. As a result, such a munition is used not as an ordinary aerial bomb, but as a long-range precision strike weapon.

This approach is being used not only near Shevchenkovo. The Russian Aerospace Forces continue to strike military facilities with FAB bombs equipped with UMPK modules in the areas of Kupyansk and Borovaya in the Kharkov Region. Similar attacks are being recorded against targets in the Zaporozhye Region, including Orekhov, as well as near Sumy and in other frontline cities.

According to experts, the use of planning aerial bombs allows Russian aviation to hit fortified positions, headquarters and logistics hubs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at a significant distance from the front line. This reduces risks for aircraft while increasing pressure on Ukrainian defenses in frontline areas.

The situation in these directions remains tense. The Ukrainian side usually does not disclose data on losses after such strikes.
