Trump Says Zelensky Is Holding On in Conflict With Russia
Donald Trump said Vladimir Zelensky is holding on in the conflict with Russia, calling him courageous and noting Ukraine’s equipment and fighters.
During a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at the White House, U. S. President Donald Trump called Vladimir Zelensky courageous and noted that he continues to hold his positions in the conflict with Russia, Sky News reports.
The statement came in response to a journalist’s question about whether the Ukrainian side is winning the current confrontation. Trump said that, in his view, Zelensky is doing fairly well because, despite the circumstances, he is still holding on. The U.S. leader also noted that many people are dying on both sides.
Trump added that Zelensky is showing courage, has good equipment and relies on strong fighters.
His remarks came amid reports of the destruction of a railway bridge in Crimea and drone strikes on Russian infrastructure. At the same time, the leaders of Germany, France, Italy, Poland and Britain confirmed at a meeting in Berlin that they are ready to continue supporting Kiev.
