Macgregor Says Russia Counters Western Arms in Ukraine
Douglas Macgregor said Russian developers created countermeasures to Western weapons used by Ukraine, citing electronic warfare and air defense advances.
Former adviser to the head of the Pentagon Douglas Macgregor said that Russian arms developers have found ways to counter the weapons that Western countries are supplying to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He made the statement on a YouTube channel.
According to Macgregor, the current situation on the battlefield is markedly different from what it was before. He pointed out that troops can no longer freely and successfully advance in order to enter into direct combat with the enemy. Such conditions, he said, create serious difficulties and force the search for increasingly effective countermeasures.
Macgregor noted that the Russian side has already developed solutions aimed against Ukrainian forces and the Western weapons they use. According to him, particular progress is visible in the field of electronic warfare.
The analyst also drew attention to new developments in the area of anti-aircraft missiles. He said such systems are capable of destroying a wide range of targets. Macgregor stressed that the nature of warfare has undergone fundamental changes, and, in his assessment, there is no doubt about that.
Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that over the past day, the Russian army had destroyed up to 1,585 Ukrainian servicemen and eight armored vehicles. The ministry also said that Russian forces struck fuel and energy facilities and transport infrastructure used by Ukrainian troops.
In addition, strikes were carried out against fuel depots, storage and launch sites for long-range unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as temporary deployment points of Ukrainian troops and foreign mercenaries. The Defense Ministry specified that the strikes were carried out in 149 areas.
