Volgograd Hit by Cruise Missile Attack on June 27

Volgograd faced a missile attack on June 27. An industrial facility was damaged, ten people were injured, and homes reportedly were not hit.

The morning of June 27 began in Volgograd with a missile alert and a series of powerful explosions. The alert in the Volgograd region was announced at around 3:25 a.m. Shortly afterward, residents heard a jet-like sound and several loud explosions. Later, a column of smoke rose over the northern part of the city.

The main consequences of the attack were recorded in the Krasnooktyabrsky district. Production facilities at one of the industrial enterprises located on the bank of the Volga were damaged there. Local fires broke out on the plant’s territory and were quickly extinguished by emergency services.

Governor Andrey Bocharov said that during the night and morning, Russian Defense Ministry air defense forces repelled an attack by high-speed aerial targets, namely cruise missiles, on the territory of the Volgograd region. According to preliminary data, ten people were injured.

All those injured were taken to hospital for assessment. Doctors preliminarily found no threat to their lives.

Against the backdrop of the attack, Rosaviatsiya temporarily closed the airspace over Volgograd and suspended the airport’s operations. Emergency services continue to inspect the enterprise’s territory and determine the full scale of the damage.

According to preliminary information from the authorities, residential buildings were not damaged in the attack. City and regional services are working to eliminate the consequences, assess the damage and provide assistance to those injured.

Earlier, on June 22, a missile strike was carried out on Voronezh. At that time, the main target of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was an industrial enterprise. Apartment buildings and private houses were damaged, along with about 50 vehicles. Six people were killed in the attack, and another 68 were injured.
