The Ukrainian Air Force confirmed the loss of a MiG-29 fighter jet in the Poltava region. Information about the incident was published on the department’s Telegram channel.
According to the AFU, contact with the aircraft was lost on the night of June 27, 2026, while it was carrying out a combat mission in the Poltava region. The Ukrainian side later confirmed that the fighter jet had been lost.
The pilot managed to eject. After that, he independently contacted the search and rescue team, which took him to a medical facility.
The causes and circumstances of the MiG-29 crash are still being clarified.
This is not the first loss of Ukrainian aviation in recent days. On June 16, another Ukrainian military aircraft crashed in the Khmelnitsky region. According to the outlet Strana, it flew over the Shepetovsky district, after which an explosion occurred.
The AFU later confirmed the loss of a Su-24M bomber from the 7th Tactical Aviation Brigade named after Pyotr Franko. The aircraft had a pilot and navigator on board, who were carrying out a mission in the region.
