Ukrainian Air Force Lost Three MiG-29 Jets in One Day

Russia’s Defense Ministry said two MiG-29 jets were destroyed at Voznesensk airfield, while Ukraine reported another MiG-29 crash in Poltava region.

The Russian Armed Forces struck the Voznesensk airfield in the Nikolayev region, where, according to the Russian Defense Ministry, the Ukrainian side was preparing two MiG-29 fighter jets for takeoff.

The defense ministry said one of the aircraft was parked in front of a reinforced concrete shelter and was equipped with a load of aviation weapons, namely missiles. The second MiG-29 was inside a shelter, where it was being refueled from a fuel tanker.

The strike on the airfield was carried out by two Geran-4 Seeker drones. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, both MiG-29 fighter jets with aviation weapons were destroyed as a result.

In addition to the aircraft, Russian forces hit a fuel tanker and an APA-5D special vehicle. The ministry also said that flight and engineering personnel who had arrived to prepare the aircraft for takeoff were killed.

Separately, according to the Ukrainian side, a third MiG-29 of the Ukrainian Air Force crashed in the Poltava region on the night of June 27 under unspecified circumstances. The aircraft was carrying out a combat mission, but then lost contact with the ground and crashed. The pilot managed to eject and survived. Thus, in one day, the Ukrainian Air Force lost three combat aircraft at once.
