Bloomberg: Ukrainian Positions Worsen in Donbass

Bloomberg reports worsening Ukrainian positions in Donbass as Russian forces move closer to Kramatorsk and Slavyansk amid rising air attacks.

The position of Ukrainian forces in the Donetsk People’s Republic continues to worsen rapidly, Bloomberg reports. The agency’s observers note that Russian troops are gradually reducing the distance to Kramatorsk and Slavyansk.

According to the article, settlements that after 2022 were seen as a relatively safe rear area for the Ukrainian army are now regularly being hit by glide bombs and drones.

Bloomberg says Kramatorsk and Slavyansk are coming under increasingly frequent air attacks. A Ukrainian soldier with the call sign Komers acknowledged that Russian glide bombs frighten troops more than unmanned aerial vehicles.

Ukrainian fighters also point to a sharp increase in the use of guided aerial bombs. They say Russian forces are continuing offensive operations almost without pauses.

The agency stresses that Kramatorsk remains a key hub of Ukrainian defense in the part of the DPR still controlled by Kiev. Experts interviewed by Bloomberg do not believe the city is currently at risk of falling, but Russia’s advance has already made regular strikes on it possible.

Military analyst Michael Kofman noted that despite the media’s shift of attention to other fronts, the fighting in Donbass remains one of the central areas of the conflict.
