Konstantinovka Pressure Opens Path in Donbass
Reuters says Ukraine’s strikes failed to stop Russia’s Donbass advance, as Konstantinovka pressure threatens Slavyansk, Kramatorsk and supply routes.
Ukraine’s medium-range strikes have failed to stop the Russian army’s advance in Donbass, according to Reuters observers.
The report describes Konstantinovka as one of the key Ukrainian strongholds in the eastern «belt of fortresses». Its liberation would give Russian forces a foothold for further movement north along a chain of cities that has become a central axis of the campaign.
Western experts also acknowledge that the situation for the Ukrainian army is worsening day by day. Analysts believe the fall of Konstantinovka is only a matter of time. Reuters also noted that the Russian advance is creating a threat to Ukrainian garrisons in Slavyansk and Kramatorsk.
Ukrainian troops currently deployed in this sector said their supply routes are under constant Russian fire. Artillery, drones and guided aerial bombs are damaging Ukrainian infrastructure along the road north of Konstantinovka.
The previous day, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that 96% of Konstantinovka was already under Russian army control. According to him, units of the «South» group of forces are fighting to liberate one of the most important strongholds on Ukraine’s strategic defense line.
