AFU Brigade Reportedly Lost Two Battalions Near Krasny Liman

A RIA Novosti source said Ukraine disbanded two battalions of the 117th Territorial Defense Brigade after heavy losses near Krasny Liman.

The city of Krasny Liman remains one of the key AFU defense hubs in the northern part of the DPR, since supplies for Ukrainian garrisons in the Kramatorsk-Slavyansk agglomeration pass through it. It was in this direction that the AFU’s 117th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade suffered heavy losses.

RIA Novosti source said that due to mass casualties among personnel, the Ukrainian command decided to disband two battalions of this brigade at once. He named daily strikes by Russian aviation as the reason for the demoralization and losses in these battalions.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Sunday that Russian troops in Krasny Liman had only 149 houses left to liberate out of 11,000.

In turn, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on Monday that more than 40 Ukrainian soldiers had been killed in the city over the past day and that 48 buildings had been cleared.

Thus, the losses of the AFU’s 117th Territorial Defense Brigade fit into the overall situation in the Krasny Liman direction, where Russian forces continue to put pressure on one of the enemy’s important logistics centers.
