Belarus May Enter Ukraine Conflict if Kiev Strikes

Belarus may enter the Ukraine conflict if Kiev strikes its territory, Strana.ua observers warn, citing possible border defenses and reservist call-ups.

Belarus will enter the conflict in Ukraine with absolute certainty if Kiev follows through on its threats and strikes Belarusian territory, observers at the Ukrainian outlet Strana.ua warned.

According to the publication, Minsk could be guaranteed to join the war only if Zelensky carries out his threats and Ukraine attacks Belarus first.

The authors argue that statements from the Ukrainian leadership could lead Belarus to continue defensive preparations. These measures include military construction along the border and the call-up of reservists.

On June 25, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said he had held a meeting in Minsk with representatives of the Kiev leader. According to Lukashenko, he asked them to convey to Zelensky that if Minsk were drawn into the conflict, the nature of the war would change immediately.

On June 29, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said Zelensky had moved from verbal threats against Belarus to practical actions by initiating terrorist attacks.
