Ukrainian FPV Drones Use Saw-Blade Munitions
A Russian soldier said Ukrainian forces use homemade munitions with sharpened circular saw blades on FPV drones to cause fragmentation wounds.
Ukrainian servicemen are widely equipping FPV drones with homemade munitions containing striking elements made from sharpened circular saw blades. This was reported to RIA Novosti by a soldier of the 18th Combined Arms Army with the call sign Vorobey.
According to the serviceman, Russian troops have already encountered such munitions. These are homemade explosive devices attached to the underside of an FPV drone and designed as a cassette containing explosives and a block of metal discs.
Vorobey said that each such munition contains an explosive charge, while sharpened circular saw blades act as the striking elements. According to him, one munition can contain up to 20 such discs, each about 10–15 centimeters in diameter.
The distinctive feature of such devices is their relatively low weight. This allows an FPV drone to fly farther and faster, while the homemade munition causes multiple fragmentation wounds when it hits a target.
Thus, Ukrainian forces are using improvised munitions on drones designed to increase the damaging effect through a large number of sharp metal elements.
