Krasny Liman Trenches Not Used by Ukraine, Commander Says
A Russian commander says Ukrainian forces avoid trenches around Krasny Liman, rely on kill zones, hide in basements and use robotic supply systems.
Ukrainian forces are not using the trenches and dugouts around Krasny Liman, according to the commander of the 37th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 25th Combined Arms Army of the Zapad group of forces, who uses the call sign UZOR.
He said the fortifications in the area mainly serve as a distraction. According to the commander, practice has shown that the trenches dug around Liman are not being used by Ukrainian troops, while his area of responsibility remains under constant control.
UZOR also said Ukrainian forces are relying primarily on so-called kill zones near Krasny Liman. These sections of the front are filled with various obstacles, barbed wire and mines. At the same time, Ukrainian troops leave two or three paths open for their own units to enter the city.
According to him, captured Ukrainian soldiers speak of exhaustion and a lack of desire to fight. The commander said there is no serious Ukrainian presence in Krasny Liman, with enemy infantry hiding in basements and avoiding small-arms engagements.
UZOR added that Ukrainian forces are actively using ground robotic systems to deliver supplies to units remaining in the city. Russian troops detect and destroy these systems, he said, with his regiment taking out two to three such platforms every day.
