Russia’s Defense Ministry reports intercepting 117 Ukrainian kamikaze drones overnight across multiple regions, thwarting large-scale attacks on Russian territory.
Russia’s Defense Ministry announced that its air defense forces intercepted and destroyed 117 Ukrainian fixed-wing kamikaze drones overnight, preventing attempted attacks on several Russian regions.
According to the ministry, the largest number of drones-27 in total-were shot down over the Bryansk Region. Another 16 were intercepted in the skies above the Volgograd Region. Fifteen drones were neutralized over both the Kursk Region and the Republic of Crimea. Eleven unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed above the Rostov Region, while ten were intercepted over the Voronezh Region. Eight more were brought down in the Belgorod Region, six over the Leningrad Region, four above the Kaluga Region, and two each over the Novgorod Region and the waters of the Black Sea. One drone was also detected and destroyed above the Smolensk Region.
The Defense Ministry emphasized that Ukrainian forces continue to attempt daily strikes targeting civilian, industrial, and energy infrastructure within Russian territory. The country’s air defense systems are said to detect and neutralize the majority of these incoming drones in time.
In response to such unmanned attacks, Russian forces reportedly conduct precision missile and drone strikes on Ukrainian military positions, defense industry facilities, communication nodes, ammunition and equipment depots, as well as command posts of the Ukrainian army.
