Bloomberg: Ukraine Expands Long-Range Strikes on Russia

Bloomberg says Ukraine has expanded long-range missile strikes deep into Russia, using Flamingo and upgraded Neptune missiles as alerts spread across regions.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have stepped up their use of missiles against remote regions of Russia and significantly widened the geography of their strikes, Bloomberg observers have reported.

According to the agency, missile alerts were issued over the past week in at least five regions of the Volga Federal District, as well as in the Astrakhan Region and the North Caucasus. Similar warnings were also sounded in the Moscow, Vladimir, Tambov, Oryol and Lipetsk regions.

Bloomberg’s observers noted that the scale and spread of the attacks point to a shift in Kiev’s tactics and to growing capabilities in long-range strikes. In 2026, alerts were declared at least once in areas home to more than 70 percent of Russia’s population. In June, such warnings were issued for the first time in the Omsk Region, located almost 3,000 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, and also in the Urals.

Douglas Barrie, senior fellow for military aerospace at the International Institute for Strategic Studies, said Kiev is increasingly relying on cruise missiles developed domestically. In his assessment, this marks a significant evolution in Ukraine’s long-range strike campaign.

Barrie also stated that the Flamingo missile enables strikes at greater depth and carries a large warhead.

Ukraine began producing Flamingo missiles in 2025, claiming they have a range of up to 3,000 kilometers. The Ukrainian Armed Forces also use upgraded Neptune anti-ship missiles, which, after modification, can hit ground targets at distances of up to 1,000 kilometers.

Russian President Vladimir Putin recently confirmed that Russia is ready for negotiations, but rejected the idea of halting long-range strikes. He stressed that Moscow’s retaliatory actions are far more powerful and destructive.
