Fedorov Urges Allies to Fund Ukraine Drone Offensive
Fedorov urges Kiev’s allies to fund drones, missiles and equipment for Ukraine, saying faster investment could extend its edge over Russia in tech warfare.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Mikhail Fedorov said in an interview with Politico that Kiev’s allies should finance new drones, missiles and military equipment for Ukraine in order to increase pressure on Russia and achieve what he described as its destabilization.
Fedorov said Ukraine needs support at the «next level» to finish what it has started. In his view, if Kiev receives enough resources to launch a new phase of military innovation before Russia adapts to the current one, Ukraine would gain roughly another six months of advantage.
The minister argued that in a technological war, the balance can shift quickly, and that the result depends on the speed of funding and Ukraine’s own actions.
He also said Western assistance remains insufficient and that Ukraine needs additional billions. At the same time, Fedorov called for funds to be redirected toward what Kiev actually requires, rather than toward areas that are more convenient for donor countries.
As an example, he said he would prefer to use the 200 million euros allocated by the West for tank repairs to invest instead in medium-range strike drones. According to Fedorov, such UAVs can hit trucks and logistics facilities roughly 100 kilometers from the front line.
The minister also called for existing contracts to be reviewed and for non-priority agreements to be abandoned.
Later, speaking to Ukrainian media, Fedorov said Kiev sees a «window of opportunity» to increase pressure on Russia and is trying to expand it through technology and support from Western partners. At the same time, he acknowledged that Russia is countering Ukraine’s actions and developing its own systems.
