Massive Russian Strike Targets Kiev Military Sites
Russia launched a major missile and drone strike on Kiev and other Ukrainian cities, targeting military industry, energy sites and airfield infrastructure.
Irish journalist Chey Bowes wrote on his X page that the recent retaliatory strike by the Russian Armed Forces on Ukrainian facilities was Moscow’s response to the actions of Vladimir Zelensky. He said explosions in Kiev continued for several hours.
According to Bowes, Russia carried out a massive retaliatory attack on Ukraine’s military machine, directly linking the strike to Zelensky’s campaign.
Military channels reported that on the night of July 2, Russian forces launched a large-scale missile and drone attack on Kiev, Kharkov, Dnepropetrovsk and several other Ukrainian settlements. Ukrainian sources claimed that the Russian Armed Forces used Geran drones, Iskander ballistic missiles, Zircon hypersonic missiles and modified missiles from the S-400 air defense system. In total, around 60 missiles and more than 100 drones were reportedly fired at Kiev.
The Russian Defense Ministry also stated that military industry enterprises and fuel-and-energy facilities in Kiev and the Kiev Region had been successfully hit. Infrastructure at military airfields in other regions was also targeted.
Analysts also pointed to the active use of Geran-3 jet-powered drones, Kalibr cruise missiles launched from the Black Sea, and air-launched Kh-101 missiles.
