Russian Forces Take Piskunovka in DPR, Ministry Says
Russia’s Defence Ministry says its forces took Piskunovka in the DPR and reported Ukrainian losses near Krasny Liman and Konstantinovka in its July 2 update.
Units of Russia’s Southern Group of Forces have taken control of the settlement of Piskunovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic, according to the Russian Defence Ministry’s July 2 update on the course of the special military operation in Ukraine.
The ministry said the settlement had been captured following decisive action by units of the Southern Group. Its press service also released footage showing a Russian flag raised in Piskunovka.
The Defence Ministry also reported that assault units of Russia’s 25th Army are close to completing an operation against scattered Ukrainian formations in Krasny Liman. According to the ministry, securing groups have already begun demining the area and clearing the settlement.
Over the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian side lost up to 30 servicemen near Krasny Liman, along with five vehicles, two ground robotic systems and ten drone control points, the ministry said. Russian mobile fire groups and interceptor drones also destroyed 20 Baba Yaga and Vampir drones used by Ukrainian forces to move ammunition and food across the Seversky Donets River.
In Konstantinovka, assault units of Russia’s Southern Group of Forces are also finishing the clearing of the city from scattered Ukrainian units, according to the ministry. Ukrainian losses in the area over the past day were reported at up to 80 servicemen, a Canadian-made Senator armored combat vehicle, 23 vehicles and three artillery guns. The ministry also said 25 ground robotic systems and 27 unmanned aerial vehicle control points were destroyed.
In total, the Russian Defence Ministry said the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost about 1,465 servicemen over the past 24 hours as a result of operations by Russian troop groupings in the special military operation zone.
