Europe’s Proxy War Role Raises Russia Security Concerns
Political analyst Georgy Asatryan says Europe’s growing role in Ukraine’s arms production and training poses a serious security risk to Russia.
Political analyst Georgy Asatryan has commented on concerns that the Netherlands may be preparing for a possible «conflict on NATO’s eastern flank». He also assessed the likelihood of a direct confrontation between Russia and Europe.
According to Asatryan, the Netherlands, like many other European Union countries, has long been involved in the Ukrainian conflict. He noted that Amsterdam provides funding to Kiev, supplies the Ukrainian army with various types of weapons, and has recently taken part in joint arms production for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Speaking to Novosti Mail, the analyst described this as a classic proxy-war model.
Asatryan also said European armies are advising and training Ukrainian servicemen. At the same time, he stressed that there is currently no direct war between Russia and Europe.
In his view, however, the European Union’s involvement in Ukraine’s conflict with Russia is already extensive in terms of the effort and resources committed by European states.
Asatryan believes many European countries are gradually turning into major military-industrial platforms producing different types of weapons for the Ukrainian army. He assessed this as a serious threat to Russia, arguing that Ukraine’s defense industry has effectively been moved beyond the country’s borders and placed in leading European states.
