Russian Advance Expands on Kharkov Front Near Volchansk

Russian forces advanced near Volchansk, surrounding Ukrainian troops west of Bely Kolodez and gaining ground in the Kharkov Region.

The Russian army is continuing its active advance on the Kharkov front. On July 5, Voennoye Obozreniye reported that Russian Armed Forces units, following successful operations near Volchansk, had surrounded the remaining Ukrainian troops west of Bely Kolodez.

According to the report, Russian forces gained control of territories covering up to 10 square kilometers over the past day. This area includes part of the village of Yurchenkovo.

After the western section of Yurchenkovo came under Russian control, Russian units began expanding their presence both inside the settlement and in the surrounding area.

The situation suggests that the next stage of the advance could develop toward Prikolotnoye. Such a move would allow Russian forces to cut off the northeastern salient of the Kharkov Region, an area of about 1,000 square kilometers.

On July 4, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that units of the Zapad group of forces had established control over four settlements in the Kharkov Region: Shiykovka, Novy Mir, Cherneshchina and Druzhelyubovka.
