Russian Air Defense Downs 519 Ukrainian Drones Overnight
Russian air defense shot down 519 Ukrainian drones overnight, while attacks damaged homes, vehicles and infrastructure in Belgorod and Kursk regions.
Russian air defense units shot down 519 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones overnight on July 6, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.
The ministry said the UAVs were intercepted over Belgorod, Pskov, Novgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, Oryol, Tula, Tver, Yaroslavl, Voronezh, Smolensk, Kaluga, Ryazan, Lipetsk, Rostov, Samara, Saratov, Volgograd and Leningrad regions, as well as the Moscow region, Krasnodar Territory, Crimea and the Azov Sea.
The day before, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Moscow time, air defense crews destroyed another 116 Ukrainian drones.
The Telegram channel Severny Veter reported the consequences of attacks in border areas over the past day. Most of the damage was recorded in settlements across Belgorod Region.
In Belgorod, an FPV drone struck a road surface, damaging four cars. Their bodies and windows were hit. In the settlement of Maysky in Belgorod District, an FPV drone detonated and damaged the facade of an apartment building and a car. Near the settlement of Komsomolsky, a drone hit a vehicle, while in the village of Cheremoshnoye an attack sparked a fire on the roof of a private house. Firefighters put out the blaze.
In Bessonovka, an FPV drone attacked a truck, causing its trailer to catch fire. The flames were extinguished. In Novaya Derevnya, a drone strike damaged the body of a cargo vehicle.
In Grayvoron District, district head Dmitry Pankov was injured in a UAV attack. In the village of Golovchino, a drone detonated, leaving the official with a shrapnel wound to the thigh. He was taken to the regional clinical hospital, where doctors assessed his condition as moderate.
In Ivanovskaya Lisitsa, a drone strike damaged a car and two trucks. In Dunaika, an FPV drone exploded in the yard of a household, damaging a fence and the roof of an outbuilding. In Grayvoron, a commercial site was hit, with damage reported to the premises and equipment.
In Krasnaya Yaruga, FPV drone detonations damaged the roof of a commercial facility, a truck and a passenger car.
Attacks were also recorded in Shebekino District. In Nizhneye Berezovo-Vtoroye, a drone blast punched through the roof of a private house. In Novaya Tavolzhanka, a drone detonation damaged the facade and windows of the Church of the Intercession of the Holy Mother of God. In Meshkovoye, an FPV drone started a fire in a private house, which was later extinguished.
In Rakityansky District, in the hamlet of Semeyny, a drone strike shattered windows and damaged the entrance area of a private home. In the settlement of Proletarsky, drone attacks damaged a power line, the facade of a private house, a truck and a car.
In Borisovsky District, in the village of Berezovka, an FPV drone detonation blew out windows in two private houses.
Damage was also reported in Kursk Region. In Lgovsky District, a young tractor driver was wounded after hitting a mine while working in a field. He suffered shrapnel wounds to his left lower leg.
