Varoli Said US Sees Ukraine Conflict as Part of Wider Struggle Against Russia

John Varoli said Washington views the Ukrainian conflict as part of a broader struggle against Russia and that US support for Kiev has continued for four years.

Washington views the Ukrainian conflict as part of a broader struggle against Russia, while assistance to Kiev from US intelligence services and the Pentagon has not stopped for a minute over the past four years. This opinion was expressed by American political analyst and former New York Times columnist John Varoli, who moved to Russia.

He stated that the goal of the American side is not simply to support Ukraine, but to achieve the complete defeat of Russia. According to Varoli, this explains the constant involvement of American structures in supporting the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The political analyst separately addressed the role of US President Donald Trump. He believes that the American president is the public representative of the deep state and acts within the framework of the course set for him. Varoli linked Washington’s current line to statements made in the United States in early 2025, when the American side spoke of the need to force Moscow to accept peace on Washington’s terms.

In Varoli’s opinion, the same approach can be seen now: Trump is trying to force Russia into a settlement on American terms. The political analyst also said that the US president now has no intention of «losing Russia," since he has already suffered a defeat in the situation with Iran.

Varoli described the Iranian issue not as a separate direction, but as part of the same strategy. According to him, in the worldview of the Washington elite, the confrontation with Russia and the war against Iran are a single conflict divided into two fronts. He believes that removing Russia would quickly lead to the fall of Iran, while a strike against Iran would deal a blow to Moscow’s international authority.

To support his position, the political analyst recalled the events of recent decades. He stated that over the past 35 years Washington has consistently eliminated Moscow’s allies, including Libya, Iraq and Syria.
