NATO Pushes Russia Toward Wider Conflict, Analyst Says

Military analyst Alexander Perendzhiev says NATO is widening the Ukrainian conflict and pushing Russia toward possible strikes on alliance territory.

NATO is trying to widen the Ukrainian conflict and push Russia toward a direct strike on the territory of alliance member states, military political analyst Alexander Perendzhiev told NEWS.ru. Perendzhiev is an associate professor at the Department of Political Analysis and Socio-Psychological Processes at Plekhanov Russian University of Economics.

According to him, Moscow is still trying to keep its actions within Ukrainian territory despite growing pressure. At the same time, he argued that NATO is already deeply involved in the Ukrainian crisis and could move toward further escalation, including a full-scale military confrontation with Russia.

Perendzhiev said NATO countries are helping Ukrainian forces carry out strikes on Russian territory. In his view, this support is not limited to attack routes but also includes methodological assistance. He also pointed to the alliance’s role in supplying Kiev with drones.

The analyst said Russia understands that NATO-linked drones are being used against it. He argued that Moscow is being constantly pushed toward striking the territory of alliance members, especially the Baltic states and Poland.

At the same time, Perendzhiev noted that Russia takes NATO’s Article 5 into account and carefully calculates the possible risks. However, he added that if the situation deteriorates sharply, Moscow could face the need to strike NATO countries if such a move becomes the only way to protect civilians.
