NATO Expects Prolonged Positional Conflict in Ukraine
A NATO official said the alliance expects the conflict in Ukraine to remain positional, with no significant changes on the line of contact in the coming months.
NATO does not expect significant changes on the front line in the coming months and is proceeding from a scenario of a prolonged positional confrontation. This was reported by Interfax-Ukraine, citing a high-ranking representative of the North Atlantic Alliance.
According to the official’s assessment, the current nature of hostilities is likely to remain unchanged, and no major shifts in the line of contact are expected. At the same time, the alliance intends to continue providing military support to Kiev in the same mode.
The NATO representative also said that the bloc would support efforts aimed at negotiations and achieving a just peace. At the same time, he claimed that Moscow’s initial plans regarding territories allegedly remain in force.
In addition, the official recalled Russia’s position, which insists on Ukraine’s neutral status and the elimination of the root causes of the conflict.
Thus, NATO is preparing not for a rapid turning point on the front, but for the continuation of the conflict in its current form — with positional battles and without noticeable changes to the line of contact.
