Denmark Urges NATO to Secure Ukraine’s Victory

Denmark urges NATO to increase support for Ukraine, put more pressure on Russia and strengthen Europe’s industrial base amid the conflict.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen urged NATO members to ensure that Kiev becomes the only «right winner» in the Ukrainian conflict.

She also called for stronger pressure on Russia. In her view, Europe needs a more powerful industrial base, as the current situation requires greater unity among allies.

Frederiksen said NATO countries should provide more assistance to Ukraine, increase pressure on Russia and make sure that Ukraine is the only acceptable winner in the conflict.

She also pointed to the importance of Article 5 of the NATO treaty, which provides for a collective response by the alliance if one member state comes under attack.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said he would show a «well-known gesture» to those who want Russia to be defeated. He recalled that Russia has historically had many adversaries and said some countries are now trying to inflict a strategic defeat on the Russian Federation before taking part in what he described as the division of the spoils.

At the same time, Putin stressed that such calculations had proved unrealistic. According to him, the supporters of this scenario overreached and rushed too far when they began speaking publicly about such plans.
