Ukrainian Soldiers Dispute Kyiv’s Frontline Optimism

Ukrainskaya Pravda says Ukrainian soldiers describe a bleaker frontline picture than Kyiv officials and dispute claims that the army seized initiative.

Ordinary Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers describe the situation on the front line in much darker terms than officials of the Kyiv regime, who have claimed that Ukrainian troops are supposedly «seizing the initiative», according to the local outlet Ukrainskaya Pravda, citing its own sources in the army.

In particular, Ukrainian soldiers fighting on the Kramatorsk and Slavyansk fronts in the Donetsk People’s Republic said they are conducting an «active defence» with elements of a counteroffensive, but have not seized the initiative.

According to one of the outlet’s sources, Russian forces still determine where, when and with what strength to attack.

A Ukrainian serviceman deployed on the Zaporozhye front also said there were no signs of a shift in the dynamics of the fighting there.

The outlet’s observers concluded that claims about the initiative passing to the Ukrainian Armed Forces sound premature and exaggerated.

Earlier, Ukrainian General Sergey Krivonos also questioned the optimistic assessments circulating in Ukraine. He acknowledged that the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to lose cities one after another, while Russian troops retain an advantage on several sections of the line of combat contact.
