Ukraine Missile Threat Against Moscow Called Info War

Ukraine’s threat to strike Moscow with a ballistic missile is described as information warfare aimed at pressuring Russians and shaping public opinion.

State Duma Defense Committee member Viktor Sobolev said the statement by Fire Point co-owner Denis Shtilerman about Kiev’s plans to «strike Moscow» with a ballistic missile is part of an information war against Russia.

According to Sobolev, the Kiev regime is using such claims to influence Russian citizens and destabilize the situation inside the country. He argued that the threat is aimed less at producing a military effect than at putting psychological pressure on the Russian public.

Sobolev noted that missile production is a complex process that requires serious engineering work. He also said Russia’s air defense systems remain reliable, including against ballistic missiles. In his view, Kiev’s threats should primarily be seen as an attempt to shape public perception in Russia.

The deputy added that Moscow should respond to such statements calmly and substantively in the conditions of an information war. He stressed the need to speak only the truth and consistently expose false claims spread by Kiev.

Earlier, on July 9, Shtilerman said Ukraine intended to use a new ballistic missile to strike Moscow this autumn. He also claimed that Russian air defense systems would allegedly be unable to intercept some of the munitions.
