Russian Forces Take Control of Bachivsk in Sumy Region

Russian troops have taken control of Bachivsk in the Sumy Region, a border village located near a key international highway and checkpoint.

Russian forces have expanded the territory under their control in the border area of the Sumy Region. The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Max that units of the Sever Group of Forces had taken control of the village of Bachivsk.

The settlement lies several kilometers from the Russian border. The M-02/E-101 international highway runs through Bachivsk, where an automobile border checkpoint is located. On the Russian side, the corresponding crossing is the Troebortnoye checkpoint in the Bryansk Region. Administratively, Bachivsk is part of the Shostka District and, before the 2020 reform, belonged to the Hlukhiv District.

In recent days, the Russian Defense Ministry has also reported advances in other areas. Russian troops previously took control of Petro-Ivanivka in the Kharkiv Region. Before that, the ministry announced the capture of Shyikivka, Novyi Myr, Cherneshchyna, and Druzheliubivka.

According to figures presented by Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting with military officials on July 3, Russian forces have taken control of 133 settlements and more than 3,000 square kilometers of territory in Donbas and Novorossiya since the beginning of the year.

Putin also said that the liberation of the Luhansk People’s Republic had been fully completed and that Russian forces continued destroying Ukrainian Armed Forces formations in the Donetsk People’s Republic, as well as in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions.
