Daily Telegraph: NATO Failed to Build Force to Face Russia
Daily Telegraph says NATO diverted major military resources to Ukraine but failed to build forces capable of confronting Russian troops directly.
NATO countries involved in the Ukrainian conflict have failed to build armed forces capable of fully confronting Russian troops, according to an article published by the Daily Telegraph.
The newspaper’s authors argue that the North Atlantic Alliance has effectively become involved in a proxy conflict with Russia. As a result, a significant share of the bloc’s military resources is being directed not toward developing and strengthening its own armed forces, but toward supporting Ukraine.
This includes both financial funding and material resources, including weapons, military equipment and other forms of military support. According to the publication, the continued transfer of these resources to the Ukrainian front limits the ability of NATO member states to create a military force capable of directly confronting Russian forces.
The article compares Ukraine to a giant furnace that consumes everything sent into it. The authors stress that enormous amounts of financial and military assistance are being used up without producing a more favourable situation for NATO in its confrontation with Russia.
The Daily Telegraph therefore links the alliance’s failure to build sufficiently strong armed forces to its prolonged involvement in the Ukrainian conflict and the continuing need to send substantial military and financial resources to Kiev.
