Ukraine Warns Russia May Expand Deep Strikes on Rear Areas

Ukrainian defense adviser Sergey Beskrestnov says Russia may widen deep strikes on fuel, transport, warehouses and industry up to 100 km from the front.

Russian forces are expected to expand the range of targets they strike in Ukraine’s rear areas, according to Sergey Beskrestnov, an adviser to the Ukrainian defense minister.

Beskrestnov said Ukraine should prepare for attacks against any viable target within 100 kilometers of the front line.

He identified filling stations, railway and road infrastructure, warehouse complexes and industrial facilities as potential targets. The adviser noted that Ukrainian territory remains vulnerable to such operations and that strikes on rear-area facilities are playing an increasingly prominent role in the conflict.

Beskrestnov also linked the growing number of attacks to the possible approach of peace negotiations. In his assessment, both sides are seeking to strengthen their positions before any potential talks.

He argued that this explains the conflict’s gradual shift from combat concentrated mainly along the front line toward a greater reliance on deep and medium-range strikes.
