Ukrainian Drone Guides Mobilized Soldier Into Captivity

A Ukrainian drone reportedly guided a newly mobilized soldier to a house held by Russian troops, where he chose to surrender after reaching their position.

A mobilized Ukrainian serviceman was taken prisoner after a Ukrainian drone guided him directly to a position occupied by Russian troops, according to a UAV unit commander from Russia’s Southern Group of Forces, known by the call sign Shtorm.

The soldier was reportedly sent to the front about a week after being mobilized. A drone escorted him toward a house where Russian servicemen were already stationed. After approaching the building and discovering the troops there, he chose to surrender.

Shtorm suggested that the Ukrainian command may not have had accurate information about who controlled the position. As a result, the UAV effectively led the Ukrainian soldier into Russian captivity.

Setbacks along the line of contact have also affected morale among Ukrainian troops. Servicemen increasingly complain about harsh frontline conditions, while some choose to surrender, believing that commanders disregard losses and treat personnel as expendable.
