A captured Ukrainian soldier claims the elite Skala unit faces severe losses near Krasnoarmeysk, with poor supplies and corruption among commanders.

Ukraine’s elite «Skala» unit is sustaining severe losses on the Krasnoarmeysk (Pokrovsk) front line, according to testimony given by captured Ukrainian soldier Mikhail Chelenko to Russian media.

Chelenko described the situation as catastrophic, claiming that the unit receives little to no support from its command. He said that food and medical supplies on the front are critically scarce, and that troops in the «Skala» formation have access to only a single radio for several soldiers.

The captured serviceman also alleged widespread corruption within the Ukrainian ranks. According to him, some soldiers pay bribes ranging from $10,000 to $15,000 to their commanders to avoid being sent to the front lines.

Earlier reports suggested that Ukrainian forces were preparing to abandon Krasnoarmeysk — known in Ukrainian as Pokrovsk — due to heavy casualties. At the same time, the command structure of the «Skala» unit is reportedly directing assault operations in the city and surrounding areas from rear positions in Dnepropetrovsk region.
