FSB Foils SBU FPV Drone Attack on Moscow Defense Site

The FSB says it foiled an SBU plot to strike a strategic defense site in the Moscow Region using 35 FPV drones smuggled into Russia through Europe and hidden.

The Russian Federal Security Service said it had prevented a terrorist attack that the Security Service of Ukraine allegedly planned to carry out against a strategic defense industry facility in the Moscow Region using FPV drones.

According to the FSB, the intended strike involved 35 unmanned aircraft designed to withstand electronic warfare systems. All of the drones were smuggled into Russia.

During the operation, security officers identified a shipment of Spanish ceramic tiles with the UAVs concealed inside. The cargo was transported through Slovakia and Poland with the alleged assistance of European intelligence services.

After reaching Russia, the drones were stored in a rented hangar. The facility had been leased by a Russian citizen.

The FSB also said the SBU recruited teenagers aged 13 to 16 to activate SIM cards intended for controlling the FPV drones. The drone control systems were reportedly manufactured in Canada.

The suspected attacker was identified as a Russian national who had previously belonged to an ethnic criminal gang and had served a lengthy prison sentence for serious crimes.
