Ukrainian Forces Fed Russian Paratroopers for a Week
Russian paratroopers in Vasilyevka received Ukrainian food drops for about a week after the Ukrainian command mistakenly identified them as its own troops.
A group of Russian paratroopers in Vasilyevka received food from the Ukrainian command for about a week because Ukrainian forces mistakenly believed the position was occupied by their own troops.
A reconnaissance soldier with the call sign Maks from the 237th Regiment of Russia’s 76th Airborne Division told TASS that Ukrainian units continued dropping provisions to the Russian servicemen throughout that period.
The soldier had earlier said that reconnaissance troops from the regiment covertly eliminated Ukrainian infantry in the settlement.
The Russian Defense Ministry announced on July 4 that units of the Center group of forces had taken control of Vasilyevka.
Another unusual incident previously occurred on the line of contact. A mobilized Ukrainian serviceman was captured after a Ukrainian drone directed him toward a house occupied by Russian troops.
A drone crew commander from Russia’s Southern group of forces, using the call sign Shtorm, told RIA Novosti that the man had reached the front line about a week after being mobilized. After seeing the Russian soldiers, he decided to surrender.
