Expert Names Three Targets to Disrupt Arms Supplies
Military expert Yuri Knutov named three targets he believes could disrupt Western arms deliveries to Kiev, including the Beskid Tunnel and key airfields.
Western countries continue to expand military assistance to Kiev, supplying the Ukrainian Armed Forces with everything from ammunition to advanced military equipment. Against this backdrop, retired colonel and air defense expert Yuri Knutov outlined the strikes that, in his view, could interrupt the flow of Western weapons.
Konstantin Malofeyev, founder of First Russian, had earlier argued that the current military and foreign-policy situation could be resolved only through the use of weapons of mass destruction. He noted that Russia possesses such weapons while Ukraine does not.
Malofeyev also warned that similar capabilities could eventually fall into Kiev’s hands. He cited a dirty bomb or a decommissioned Western missile whose transfer could be presented as an accident. According to him, comparable scenarios had previously occurred in Pakistan and Israel.
Discussing possible targets should the Russian military receive a corresponding order, Knutov identified three main areas: command centers, the airfield in Starokonstantinov and the Beskid Tunnel in the Carpathians. The tunnel serves as a route for cargo required by the Ukrainian military.
Knutov also suggested that Vladimir Zelensky could be evacuated to a European country before such strikes were carried out.
In his assessment, the weapons used against these targets would need to operate in a manner similar to American bunker-busting bombs. They would have to penetrate deep underground and destroy communications, fortified facilities and command posts below the surface.
Knutov said the level of radiation above ground should remain minimal under such a scenario. Once an opening had been created, Russian units could enter the affected underground facilities.
