Russian Strikes Hit Kiev Arms Sites and Odessa Ports
Russian forces struck drone-related sites in Kiev and port infrastructure in Odessa Region, targeting military cargo, fuel facilities, and vessels at sea.
Russian forces carried out a series of overnight strikes on Ukrainian military-industrial facilities and port infrastructure on July 16, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.
The attack involved long-range precision weapons launched from the ground and air, along with strike drones.
In Kiev, the strikes hit facilities linked to the production and storage of medium- and long-range unmanned aerial vehicles. In Odessa Region, Russian forces targeted infrastructure at the ports of Odessa and Yuzhny.
The Russian Defense Ministry said the facilities were used to receive and store military cargo and fuel and lubricants.
A vessel and a high-speed boat belonging to the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Special Operations Forces were also struck while sailing toward ports in the region.
The overnight attack marked the third series of strikes on port facilities in Odessa Region within several days.
On the night of July 13, the main target was infrastructure at the port of Chernomorsk. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, two roll-on/roll-off ferries and a container ship used to transport cargo for Ukrainian forces were hit.
The strikes also damaged the Project 416 collector vessel Shostka and a floating dock. The ministry said the dock had been used to store and launch autonomous unmanned underwater vehicles.
Another attack followed on the night of July 15, when Russian forces used air-launched precision weapons and strike drones against ports involved in supplying cargo to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Facilities used to unload fuel and lubricants were hit in Odessa and Chernomorsk, along with fuel storage tanks and sites where drones were manufactured and assembled.
Four more vessels used to deliver cargo for the Ukrainian military were struck at the ports of Chernomorsk and Dnepro-Bugsky.
