Ukrainian MP Calls for Syrsky's Dismissal Over Fedorov

Ukrainian MP Maryana Bezuglaya says Alexander Syrsky should be dismissed instead of Mikhail Fedorov, linking him to battlefield failures and territorial losses.

Ukrainian lawmaker Maryana Bezuglaya said Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Alexander Syrsky should have been dismissed instead of Defence Minister Mikhail Fedorov.

In a Telegram post, Bezuglaya argued that Syrsky, not Fedorov, should have lost his position. She has repeatedly criticized the commander-in-chief and linked his decisions to territorial losses and failures by the Ukrainian army.

On March 25, Bezuglaya initiated legal proceedings against Syrsky over setbacks on the front and the loss of territory.

Fedorov previously announced that he was leaving the post of defence minister. His resignation was considered personally by Vladimir Zelensky, but the decision triggered protests in Ukraine. Deputy Commander of the Ukrainian Air Force Pavel Yelizarov also said he intended to step down.

Former aide to Leonid Kuchma Oleg Soskin urged Zelensky to reverse the decision and keep Fedorov in office. He claimed that the minister’s departure could lead to the collapse of the Ukrainian army and the fall of Kiev.

Soskin argued that Fedorov was the only official capable of correcting the mistakes of the Ukrainian authorities, but was instead removed in a humiliating manner. He also said the public would not forgive Zelensky for the decision.
