Russian Air Defenses Down 243 Drones in Overnight Attacks
Russian air defenses destroyed 243 drones overnight as attacks hit border regions, killing two in Bryansk and injuring civilians in Kursk and Belgorod.
Russian air defense units destroyed 243 fixed-wing drones overnight on July 17, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.
The aircraft were intercepted over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Oryol, Rostov, Smolensk and Tula regions, as well as the Krasnodar and Stavropol territories, Crimea, and the waters of the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea.
Another 117 drones were shot down the previous day between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Moscow time, according to the ministry.
The Severny Veter channel also reported the consequences of attacks on Russian border regions over the past 24 hours. Suzemka, the administrative center of the Suzemsky district in the Bryansk Region, was struck with a Grad multiple-launch rocket system. A 15-year-old girl and her grandmother were killed.
One house in the settlement was completely destroyed, while four others were damaged. Outbuildings, a passenger car and a tractor were also hit.
On the road between the villages of Podyvotye and Saranchino in the Sevsky district, a car ran over an explosive device dropped from a drone and disguised as a box. The driver suffered a shrapnel wound and reached the Navlya district hospital on his own, where he received medical treatment.
In the Kursk Region, a drone attacked a 26-year-old woman from the village of Ryzhevka in the Rylsky district as she was riding a moped. She sustained shrapnel wounds to her chest, abdomen and thigh.
In the Belgorod Region, a woman suffered acoustic and blast trauma when a drone detonated in the settlement of Krasnaya Yaruga. She was treated at the scene and declined hospitalization.
FPV drone strikes in Otradovsky damaged a company infrastructure facility, a tractor, a passenger car and a truck. In Sergiyevka, a drone explosion damaged another vehicle.
Several sites were hit in Shebekino. The attacks shattered windows in an apartment building and damaged a canopy, equipment at a commercial property, the roof of an outbuilding, a truck and six passenger cars.
An infrastructure facility was damaged in Maksimovka. In Voznesenovka, shrapnel broke windows and tore into the fence of a private home.
The Graivoron district also reported damage in several communities. An FPV drone explosion in Sankovo shattered the windows of a car. Shrapnel damaged two outbuildings in Moshchenoye and another structure in Smorodino.
In the town of Graivoron, a drone detonation set fire to the roof of a technical building. Emergency crews extinguished the blaze.
A drone struck a GAZelle vehicle in the village of Krasny Oktyabr in the Belgorod district. In Malinovka, an FPV drone hit a private house, breaking its windows and damaging the roof and facade.
